This study-day will explore Greek and Roman mythology, looking at the key gods and goddesses, how they were portrayed and the part they played in the myths. It will also look at the role the myths had in establishing civic and social identity, and in providing the populace a guide for living. The day will be led by Frances Eley, lecturer in Classics and Archaeology for the Open University with particular research interests in the ancient Mystery Religions.
